My Teaching Philosophy

My Love and Passion

I want to teach because I have a believe and trust to do something different. I know what the meaning is of being a student and also of a teacher. Now in many school, in Suriname, the focus is on passing an exam or class. But I have a different opinion in how children are educated nowadays. There is a difference in learning, knowing something and understanding it. A teacher can only guide their students in a certain path, but the students must find their own way to learn. In contrast we teach students what we read from the given books of the curriculum, and don't think or teach out of the box. The only things that matter is that students must get good grades to pass.

"Love yourself, believe in yourself and love your work."

Students of my class SMO

My students of SMO, whom I dearly loved and always tried to motivate them to study hard. Although the students had many hardships to encounter, I tried to reason with them and come up with a motivation to push through their issues. Because I believed in them and because I was a father figure for them I got a fathers day present from my class. I was very glad and speechless.

Students of SMO
Not only was I loved and acknowledged by the students of my class, but also by students of the other classes. Few came everyday by me to get some advice and attention for their performance and personal problems. These students were also trying to do their best inspite many barriers.

Leaders

With the students representatives and some colleagues we did some projects together. One of them was the students information day and the opening of SMO.
